To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
The vote taken at the Freshman smoker Wednesday evening should not be considered as an expression of the opinion of the whole class. The 226 votes for beer and the 181 against, represent only 407 Freshmen out of a catalogued total of 705. In other words, the opinion of three-sevenths of the class has not yet been given.
Also, the closeness of the vote--taken in an atmosphere especially favorable to "wet" votes--shows that opinion in the class is so evenly divided that it should be definitely decided on which side the majority stands. We therefore urge that a vote of the whole class be taken on the question as soon as possible. A smoker, attended by some merely because of the beer that is served, and attended by only four-sevenths of the class at that, is not a place at which the definite decision of the class as a whole may be had.
