Russell Brigham Frye '15, of Marlboro, was appointed acting captain of the University baseball team by Coach Sexton yesterday. Frye prepared at Exeter, where he pitched on the baseball team. He captained the 1915 baseball team in his Freshman year, and played on the University team as a pitcher and outfielder in 1913 and 1914. He is a left-hander and is expected to be the mainstay of the staff this season.
Captain Ayres is still very ill at his home in Montclair, N. J., and, as his recovery has been slower than was hoped for, is not expected to be with the team for several weeks yet.
The team held practice outdoors again yesterday, and there was a practice game between two picked teams. R. Harte '17, who has been laid up with a lame ankle, was used as a pinch hitter, and expects to be able to play tomorrow. H. R. Hardwick '15 was tried out at third base and played a good game.
The line-ups follow:
Team A.--s.s., Beal; l.f., Coolidge; 1b., Nash; c.f., Brickley; 3b., Hardwick; 2b., Swan; r.f., Demelman; c., Waterman; p., Whitney.
