Upon the request of certain unclassified students the CRIMSON prints the following list of non-athletic organizations and prizes for which unclassified students in the University may compete.
Positions on all the undergraduate publications, such as the Advocate, Monthly, etc., are open to unclassified students, according to the regulations prescribed for the class with which they entered college. Prizes for debating, as well as positions on the debating teams, are also open to unclassified students. Any undergraduate may be a member of the Musical Clubs and the Dramatic Club.
Unclassified students are eligible for the following academic prizes: The Bowdoin Prizes for dissertations in English, Latin and Greek. The Dante Prize, for an essay on a subject drawn from the Life and Works of Dante.
The Sargent Prize, for the best metrical translation of a lyric poem of Horace.
The George B. Sohier Prize, for the best thesis presented by a successful candidate for honors in English or in Modern Literature.
The Sales Prize, for Spanish, determined by proficiency in Spanish Composition.
The Philip Washburn Prize for the best thesis on an historical subject presented by a successful candidate for the degree of A.B. with Distinction in the division of History, Government, and Economics, whose main work is in History.
The Sumner Prize, in Political Science.
The Francis Boott Prize, to be awarded to the writer of the best composition in concerted vocal music.
The Lloyd McKim Garrison Prize, for the best poem on a subject to be announced by a committee of the Department of English.
The Harvard Menorah Society Prize, for an essay on a subject connected with the work and achievements of the Jewish people.
The George Arthur Knight Prize for the best composition in instrumental music. The Wister Prize, for the student who passes his examinations with the highest combined average in mathematics and music. The Craig Prize in Dramatic Composition.
