TENNIS AT ITS HEIGHT HERE

Four University Men Graduate.-Plenty of Material to Support Captain Williams Next Year.

Never before has Harvard been represented by so strong a tennis team as during the past season. Of the six men who played against Yale, four will graduate this spring. They are Captain E. H. Whitney '14, J. J. Armstrong '14, W. M. Washburn '15, and E. H. Woods '14. Three other "H. T. T." men, E. R. Hastings '14, J. C. Devereux '14, and O. Williams '14, members of the University team of of 1913 will also graduate.

Yet the outlook for a strong tennis team to centre around Captain-elect R. N. Williams '16 is far from discouraging. Four men will enter the intercollegiate tournament at Haverford, Pa., in September, and trials for this quartet four will be held early in that month. These four will serve as a nucleus for the University squad next year.

R. N. Williams '16, runner-up at the National Singles Championship Tournament last summer, is undoubtedly the individual star among the tennis material at Harvard. L. Curtis '16, who played against Yale this year is the only other veteran from the University squad. R. Harte '17 is a promising candidate for tennis honors, and with G. C. Caner '17 will make the team trials in September come up to an unusual standard of excellence. Besides these T. J. D. Fuller '15, J. Wooldredge '16 and J. S. Brown '17 may be called upon to compete for the vacant positions.
