Harvard will play its first important home game of the season this afternoon when the nine will meet Princeton on Soldiers Field at 3 o'clock. This is the only meeting of the year between the two teams; in some former years there has been a series of three games.
The University team, though it has been in a bit of a slump for the past week and has dropped games to Penn. and Holy Cross, appears to be the best that Harvard has had for several years, and has won 13 out of 16 games played, losing one game each to Georgetown, Penn. and Holy Cross, but as Harvard had won and earlier game with Georgetown there was an even break with the Washington college. There will be another game both with Penn. and Holy Cross, so there is a chance to even up with those teams.
Princeton has had an up and down season, and has been defeated by several college nines, including Williams and Penn. Last year Harvard took a one-sided game with Felton pitching, 7 to 0.
Dr. Sexton had not made up his mind last night on his pitcher to start the game, but will probably use Hitchcock in the box, with Mahan in reserve. The batting orders:
