Lectures of the Day

Dr. Percy W. Long, instructor in English, will give the sixth of his series of lectures on "Spencer" in Lawrence 12 this afternoon at 3.30 o'clock. These lectures are held every Tuesday afternoon and are open to all members of the University.

General Survey of Japanese Art.

M. Anesaki, A.M., Litt.D., exchange professor of Japanese Literature and Life, will deliver an illustrated lecture on "Japanese Art, a General Survey," in the Lecture Room of the Fogg Museum this afternoon at 4.30 o'clock. This is the first of a series of four lectures on "Art and Life in Japan." Professor Anesaki will show stereopticon views and also actual paintings from Japan. His subject will have special reference to the epochs of the art-history of Japan and to the schools of painting and sculpture. The lecture will be open to the public.

Gov. Walsh at Speakers' Club.

Governor David I. Walsh will address the Speakers' Club at their regular weekly dinner this evening at 6.30 o'clock. He will speak upon "State Issues," taking up particularly the important bills now before the legislature, the problems of the day, and the New Haven situation. All members of the club and their friends, are invited.

Father Officer at Socialist Club.

The Socialist Club will meet in Fairfax 32 this evening at 8 o'clock. Rey Father Harvey Officer '95, of the Order of the Holy Cross; who is conducting morning prayers in chapel this week will speak on Socialism. The meeting is open to all members of the University interested in the subject.
