English Philosopher at Institute.

The Hon. Bertrand Russell, M.A., F.R.S., exchange professor in Philosophy, will deliver the third of his course of lectures on "Scientific Method in Philosophy" at the Lowell Institute this evening at 8 o'clock. His special subject will be "Our Knowledge of the External World." The course of eight lectures will be open to the public, and free tickets may be secured at 491 Boylston street, Boston, between 9 and 4 o'clock.

"Railroad Construction Finance."

"Recent Experience in Railroad Construction Finance" will be the subject of a lecture by Professor W. Z. Ripley before the Seminary of Economics in Upper Dane this afternoon at 4.30 o'clock. The lecture will be open to all members of the University.

Professor P. W. Bridgman will discuss "The Phosphorous Problem," at the Physical Colloquium in Room 25 of the Jefferson Physical Laboratory this afternoon at 5 o'clock. This meeting will be open to all members of the University. Students of physics are especially invited.

Professor F. N. Robinson will address the Modern Language Conference on "David ap Gwilym" in Conant Common Room this evening at 8 o'clock.

Gov. Walsh at Speakers Club.

Governor David I. Walsh will address the Speaker's Club on "State Issues," at its weekly dinner tomorrow evening at 6.30 o'clock. All members and their friends are invited.

New Series by Prof. Anesaki

M. Anesaki, A.M., Litt.D., professor of Japanese Literature and Life, will deliver the first of a course of four lectures on "Art and Life in Japan," in the Lecture Room of the Fogg Museum tomorrow afternoon at 4.30 o'clock. The special subject will be "Japanese Art, a General Survey," with special reference to the epochs of the art-history of Japan and to the schools of painting and sculpture. The lecture will be open to the public.
