Meeting of Oxford and Cambridge Men.
A dinner will be held at the Hotel Somerset, Boston, on Saturday, May 2, at 7.30 o'clock, open to all who have at any time been regularly in residence at Oxford or Cambridge Universities. Applications for tickets at $3 each should be in the hands of F. Schenck, 52 Brattle street, on or before April 25. Every applicant is asked to state which university and college he attended, and to give his date of residence. It is hoped that all Oxford and Cambridge men in the University will take advantage of this opportunity.
Pamphlets on Law Reform.
The Law School Society has secured from Mr. Sherman L. Whipple copies of the address which he gave before the Connecticut Bar Association entitled "The Impairment of Popular Confidence in the Administration of Justice," and the one which he delivered before the Bar of the State of Florida entitled "The Duty of Disclosure."
Those who care to have these addresses may secure copies at the delivery desk in Randall Hall.
Track Manager Competition.
There will be a meeting of the candidates for second assistant track manager in Hollis 31 tomorrow at 5 o'clock, and not Monday, as stated in yesterday's CRIMSON.
Manager C. G. Squibb '14 will outline the plans of the competition, which is open to all Sophomores. Since this is the last opportunity for Sophomores to secure a second assistant managership, as many men as possible should report. W. A. BARRON, JR., '14, Captain. C. G. SQUIBB '14, Manager.
Ducking for Crew No. 4.
All of the crews, including the seven University and the four Freshman crews, had a strenuous afternoon's work on the river yesterday. Most of the ice in front of the two boathouses has now melted, leaving a clear space for the crews to put out. It is hoped that the steam coaching launch, "John Harvard" will be put in the water for this afternoon's row.
Yesterday afternoon the fourth University crew struck a cake of ice which tore a hole in the bow and allowed the boat to fill with water. Fortunately the boat was only about 75 feet from land, so all the men were able to get ashore safely after a short but cold ducking.
Important Hockey Practice.
The University hockey team will hold an important practice at the Arena this afternoon between 6 and 7 o'clock. Members of this year's University and Freshman squads are urged to report. The work will consist of a drill in passing and rushing, during which special attention will be given to the individual needs of the men, and a scrimmage.
