Exhibiting superior team-play and better individual work throughout the game, the Freshman hockey team defeated the Yale freshman at New Haven on Saturday afternoon by the score of 8 to 1.
The Freshman attack started off in whirlwind fashion, scoring three goals in the first few minutes of play. Captain Murray then scored Yale's only point on a hard shot past Wylde. From then on the Yale freshmen were almost continually on the defensive, the sterling work of Morgan at point successfully checking their occasional attack. At the end of the first period the 1917 team had the game well in hand, and the play slowed down considerably during the second half.
The honors of the Freshman team were divided between Captain Morgan, on the defense; and E. O. Baker, on the offense, who scored four of the goals. Captain Murray, who had the honor of scoring his team's solitary tally, starred for Yale.
The summary: Score--Harvard 1917, 8; Yale 1917, 1. Goals--Baker 4, Townsend 2, Baldwin, Fisher, Murray. Referee -- Martin, of Yale. Assistant referee--Irvin, of Harvard. Time--20-minute halves.
