With R. H. Dana, 2d., as director, a three-years' course in architecture has been started at Yale. It will be given under the auspices of the School of Fine Arts, in conjunction with the Sheffield Scientific School. Mr. Dana said today, in outlining the course:

"The courses in mathematics and construction are given in the Sheffield Scientific School, and the purely artistic courses, design and the history of architecture, in the Art School. A student may come direct from a secondary school to the School of Architecture, after passing the Sheffield entrance examinations but the special advantage of the course will be felt by students in the college and in Sheff, who may anticipate certain courses in architecture and mathematics, before entering the architectural school.

"The School of Architecture offers the following subjects: Design (throughout all three years), history of architecture, mathematics, architectural rendering in water color, pen and ink, and other mediums, freehand drawing in charcoal from casts, perspective drawing and architectural modeling.

"The supreme value of this course to students now in college lies in the fact that certain courses may be elected by them now which will count toward a degree of Bachelor of Arts or of Science, and which will enable them to dispense with from one-half to a year's work required in the architectural course." --(Boston Evening Transcript).
