The Rovers were defeated 3 to 0 yesterday in a fast game by the Somerville Baseball Club. Both teams did very well in the field, and the visitors batted well. Somerville, pitching for the visitors, let the Rovers down without a semblance of a hit in the nine innings. He fanned seven men and walked only three. Only four of the Rovers got as far as second, and none to third.
The features, aside from Somerville's twirling, were the two home run drives by Scribner and Grieves, and Scribner's clean steal home in the ninth. The Rovers lined up as follows: Coolidge, Thomas, l.f.; Abbott, 2b.; Ayres, 3b.; Ashley, Caley, c.f.; Gannett, r.f.; Safford, c.; O'Day, Nash, 1b.; Bernson, s.s.; Garritt; MacDonald, Fitzgibbons, p.
The score by innings:
Batteries--for Somerville, Somerville and Graham; for the Rovers, Garritt, MacDonnell; Fitzgibbon and Safford.
