AMATEUR ACTORS IN ACTION

CERCLE FRANCAIS AND DEUTSCHER VEREIN HAVE SELECTED PLAYS.

The Play Committee of the Deutscher Verein has selected Gustav Freytag's "Die Journalisten" to be given during the week of December 13. Performances will be given in Cambridge at Brattle Hall and in Boston at Jordan Hall. The proceeds from the play will be turned over to the Relief Fund for sufferers in the war.

The Play to be given by the Cercle Francais during the week of November 29 is "Lee Petites Godins" by Ordonneau and Chivot. This very humorous farce has been given in recent years at the Theatre Francais with much success. The Cercle has been very fortunate in again securing the services of Edouard Darmand, who has been so successful in coaching the club plays for the past seven years. Many men have registered for parts in the play and regular trials will begin on Friday. In the matter of casting the play there is to be a decided change. It has always been the custom to cast members of the Cercle for the female roles or to get older ladies from Boston or Cambridge for such parts, but this year it has been decided to ask the co-operation of the Radcliffe Cercle and to make the fall play a joint production.

At the first meeting of the Cercle Francais held last night in the club rooms, Professor Lichtenberger, exchange professor from the Sorbonne was elected an honorary member of the Society and presented with the medal of the organization.

This year the Cercle plans to have regular meetings every three weeks at which distinguished Frenchmen will be asked to speak.
