Two months hence, just prior to the beginning of the Christmas vacation, there will be many undergraduates plunged in the throes of theses.

When theses are assigned, the period generally given for the investigation of the subject and the proper arrangement of material very rarely allows for the possibility of another subject being under investigation at the same time. Instructors in assigning dates fail to realize that a student may be taking another course in which a thesis is also required and such time as is necessary to complete one report is all that is generally allotted.

In such a situation, if a student has two theses due at approximately the same date, one task invariably has to be slighted for the benefit of the other or perhaps both fail to be finished products under the stress of too much work.

The time for instructors to assign dates and for undergraduates to start work is now. The result will be contributions indicative of more careful thought and thorough preparation.
