PENNSYLVANIA DEFEATED

NINTH INNING VICTORY AT PHILADELPHIA BY SCORE OF 3 TO 1.

With the score 1 to 0 against them in the ninth, the University baseball team rallied yesterday and defeated Pennsylvania by netting three runs. The game was a pitchers' battle between Felton and Captain Imlay in which Felton had the better, striking out twelve men and allowing only five hits. The Pennsylvania pitcher also performed well, but the fact that two of Harvard's runs resulted from errors is witness to the poor support which he received. The feature of the game was a remarkable throw by Coleman in the first, catching Alsop at the home plate.

The first score of the game, by Pennsylvania, was made in the fifth when Peder doubled, went to third on Schwerts' sacrifice, and scored on a squeeze play when Imlay bunted over Felton's head. Harvard failed to score until the ninth. At this critical point Frye singled, and went to third on a wild throw to second after Tomes struck out. Gannet flied to right field. Phillips, batting for Felton, hit to first base, and Pedan muffed the ball, Frye scoring. Alsop singled, and Wingate flied to left where Glendenning dropped the ball and Phillips and Alsop scored on another error, though Wingate was caught at the plate.

Hitchcock pitched the remainder of the game, holding Pennsylvania to no hits. HARVARD.   a.b.  r.  b.h.  p.o.  a.  e.
