VICTORY FOR SOCCER TEAM

YALE DEFEATED IN HARD-FOUGHT GAME ON APRIL 12.--SCORE 2 TO 1.

The University soccer team defeated Yale at New Haven Saturday, April 12, by the score of 2 to 1. The game was played on the regular football field, but a driving rain during the play put the ground in poor condition and slowed up the play. The University forwards, however, showed good team-work, keeping the ball in Yale's territory and would have scored more but for the strong Yale defence.

Harvard scored first on a 15-yard kick from a scrimmage in front of the goal by Carnochan after five minutes of play. Holmes soon tied the score for Yale by a kick from penalty. Before the half was over, however, Carnochan scored again on a clever shot from the 15-yard line. There was no scoring in the second half, although Hardwick caged the ball on an off-side play. Barron, Carnochan, and McCall played well for Harvard, while Dickey and Stock did well for Yale. Line-ups and Summary. The line-ups follow: HARVARD.  YALE.
