Candidates for the Freshman debating teams, that will meet Yale 1916 and Princeton 1916 on May 2, will be called out for the preliminary trials next Wednesday evening. The teams will be chosen after a series of three trials to be held in the next two weeks, and will commence preparation for the triangular debate immediately after the final trial on April 4.

In the preliminary trials next Wednesday each candidate will give a five-minute speech. Twenty men will be retained for the semi-final trials next Friday, when each candidate will deliver a ten-minute speech. There will be no rebuttal in the first two trials. In the final contest on April 4 the twelve leading candidates will be divided into four teams, two speaking on opposite sides of the question in the afternoon, the other two debating in the evening.

As less than a week remains before the preliminary trials, candidates should start preparation of their speeches and should send their names to M. Suravitz, Perkins 11.

The Freshman negative team will meet Princeton 1916 in Cambridge on May 2. The affirmative team will debate the Yale freshmen in New Haven on the same night, and Yale 1916 will meet Princeton 1916 at Princeton. The subject for the debate is, "Resolved, That the members of the President's Cabinet should have a seat and a voice in all discussions in both Houses of Congress."

Curtis Worth Chenoweth 2G., of Taunton, and Milton Clarkson Lightner 3L., of Toronto, Ont., have been appointed coaches of the Freshman debating team. Chenoweth and Lightner were both members of the University team that defeated Princeton last Friday. They will be in joint control of the Freshmen.
