WEATHER LOOMS UP AS FOE

Condition of Stadium Necessitated Practice in Cage.--Regulars Out With Minor Injuries.

The University football team was compelled to practice in the Cage yesterday afternoon, the Stadium being a sea of mud. A number of the regulars were excused from practice and looked on from the side-lines. Pennock, who was cut over the eye in Saturday's game, was in the line-up, however. Hardwick, Trumbull, Hitchcock and Coolidge, all of whom have slight injuries, were given a rest. Bradlee was not present and Freedley and Logan put the teams through their practice. The lack of space restricted the work considerably and practically the whole afternoon was spent in running the men through some new plays, which are being worked out for emergencies in the later games. The teams made good progress in picking them up.

The squad of coaches was out in full force and gave both teams an hour's talk in the Locker Building, in which the Holy Cross game was gone over and the mistakes pointed out. The new plays of the week were outlined and illustrated by a diagram talk on the board.

Beginning today, practice will be called each day at 3 o'clock instead of at 3.30 as heretofore. At this time of year darkness makes it impossible for the practice to last later than 5.30. With fair weather today, the hard program of the week will be taken up and the regular closed practice in the Stadium will be continued.
