The annual University reception was held in President Lowell's new house last evening. Although the receiving room of the house was used for the Christmas Eve reception this year, this was the first time that the house has been really opened. Hitherto the reception has been held in the Union, but this year President and Mrs. Lowell made use of the occasion as a "house-warming."
The guests included members of the Faculty, Governing Boards, and Administrative Departments of the University, besides Major H. L. Higginson h,'82, Mayor Barry, of Cambridge, and others.
President Lowell was presented with a handsome silver bowl by the Faculty, Professor G. H. Palmer '64, who has just resigned his University position, making the presentation address.
