Francis Blake, A.M., h. '02, died at his home in Weston early yesterday morning.
Mr. Blake was widely known as the inventor of the "Blake Transmitter," which he perfected in 1878 and which has done much to advance the development of telephony throughout the world. Since then he has patented numerous other electrical devices of importance.
A few years ago, Mr. Blake was appointed by the Board of Overseers as chairman of a committee to visit the Jefferson Physical Laboratory. In 1902 he received the honorary degree of A.M. from the University. He presented to the Physical Laboratory the milling machine which is at present an important part of the apparatus in the mechanical work-shop of the laboratory.
