Mr. F. G. Athearn, manager of the Southern Pacific Bureau of Economics in San Francisco, will deliver a lecture on "The Work of the Bureau of Economics," in Emerson H, today at 2.30 o'clock, under the auspices of the Graduate School of Business Administration. Mr. Athern is in charge of the selection and training of student apprentices, who are given a four year's course embracing instruction and actual experience in every branch of the operating department of the Harriman lines, with the idea of developing a small corps of broadly trained college men from which to draw for the subordinate official positions. His lecture today will deal with the policy of the Harriman lines in fostering a more friendly feeling on the part of the public and strengthening the co-operation and loyalty of employees. The lecture will be open to all members of the University.
Last Lecture on "Hospitals."
Mr. Frank Miles Day, of Philadelphia, Pa., will deliver the last of a series of lectures on "Hospitals" in the Lecture Room of Robinson Hall this afternoon at 4.30 o'clock. The lecture will be open to the public.
Dr. Anderson on Preventive Medicine.
Dr. J. F. Anderson, Director of the Hygienic Laboratory of the Public Health and Marine Hospital Service. will deliver the second Cutler lecture on Preventive Medicine in the Amphitheatre of Building E, Medical School, Longwood avenue, Boston, this afternoon at 5 o'clock. Dr. Anderson's topic will be "Some Recent Advances in our Knowledge of Certain Infectious Diseases.
