The University second crew was defeated in a race with the second crew of the United States Naval Academy over the two-mile course at Annapolis on Saturday by four lengths. The Weather conditions were fairly good, though a moderate cross-wind raised a slight chop at the lower end of the course.

At the start the navy crew took a slight lead and both eights were rowing nearly forty strokes to the minute. When the quarter-mile was reached, the two shells were even again, but the University second crew was forced to use a slightly higher stroke to maintain their position. At the half-mile the navy crew began to draw ahead and it continued to increase the lead until one-half mile distant from the finish. The University second crew was unable to raise its stroke for the finish, whereas the Navy eight made a splendid spurt and crossed the line in the fast time of 10 minutes and 29 seconds.

In the one-mile race between the Naval Academy's first crew and a graduate crew, the former won easily by three lengths.
