SOCCER TEAM IN THE GAME

With General Electric Company Club of Lynn Last Saturday.--Pcor Field Retarded Match.

The University soccer team, in the first game of its season, tied with the General Electric Company Club of Lynn on Soldiers Field last Saturday afternoon. Each team scored two goals, and the teams were as evenly matched as the result indicates. The University team played the harder rushing game, although the Lynn men were better individually. The condition of the field, ankle-deep with mud, retarded the play to a great extent, and this, coupled with the absence of Captain Byng, Barron and Francke from the game was a distinct handicap.

The Scoring.

Lynn scored in the first few moments of play. Harvard often had the ball in Lynn's territory after that, and near the end of the period Greene scored for the University team. In the First of the second half, the visitors took the lead once more, when T. Spence scored. Palmer, however, soon after kicked a difficult goal from the 30-yard line, and tied the score again. Play during the last ten minutes was highly exciting, with the result in doubt up to the end.

Browne played a remarkable game at goal, and the work of Hallowell and Needham was excellent. Hibbert and Sherrit were the best individually for the visitors.
