HOCKEY WORK STILL POOR

University Seven Improved, But Snap Was Somewhat Lacking.

The University hockey team held only a short practice in the Arena yesterday evening, consisting of the usual preliminary work and a 20-minute scrimmage with the second team, in which neither side scored. Captain Huntington was again out of the line-up, and Gardner and Smart exchanged places at the goals.

The work of the first team was a little better than against the B. A. A. on Tuesday night, but the forwards lacked team work while about their opponents' goal. All their chances to score came in shots from scrimmages, whereas the second team had a number of clean shots which Smart did will to stop. The second team men occasionally showed weakness in taking the puck down the rink when it had been forced down about their goal, but as a whole they kept play in the first team's end of the rink as much as it was in theirs.

The teams lined up as follows: FIRST TEAM.  SECOND TEAM. Sortwell, l.e.  r.e., Morgan Duncan, l.c.  r.c., Reeves Palmer, r.c.  l.c., Adams Pierce, r.e.  l.e., Baldwin Blackall, c.p.  c.p., Houston Willetts, p.  p., Wingate Smart, g.  g., Gardner
