Conditions and Cultural Development of People Explained by Count Luetzow.

Count Francis Luetzow of Prague, Bohemia, lectured on Bohemian history in Emerson Hall Yesterday afternoon. The Count give an outline of the political history of his native country from the time of the Slavic conquest in 12 B. C. to the present era, paying particular attention to relations with the German States.

Christianity was introduced into Bohemia about 873, and taking a strong hold on the people, developed the spirit which later came into such bitter opposition with the Roman See. Bohemia was the theatre of hostilities during a large part of the Thirty Years' War, and was frequently pillaged by Swedish troops. Not until 1845, was the country able to establish its old national independence, but since then the Austrian yoke has gradually been lifted.
