The University chess team will go to New York tonight to compete with Yale, Columbia and Princeton in the twenty first annual intercollegiate chess tournament. Mr. E. A. Caswell, Yale '66, for some time secretary of the League, has charge of the arrangements. The tournament will be held at the Murray Hill Hotel tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday, each team playing one match a day, the winner being awarded the intercollegiate cup which Columbia holds at present.
The team will be made up as follows: B. Winkelman '15, board 1; S. Seiniger '14, board 2; W. B. Harris 1G.S., board 3; J. R. Morton '13, board 4; W. M. Washburn '15, substitute.
Harvard and Princeton send two veteran players to New York and Yale one, while three of Columbia's championship team of last year will play again. Louis Hein will direct the play and Hermann Helms and Julius Flinn will act as referees.
A second team will also go to New York and play West Point, Lafayette and probably Amherst, on the same days as the first team tournament.
