Freshman Football Practice

The Freshman football squad held both morning and afternoon practice yesterday. In the morning Coach H. C. Dewey '12 was assisted by S. M. Felton, 3d, '13 and by T. H. Frothingham '13, who coached the ends and backs respectively. The men were given a long drill in the rudiments of the game including falling on the ball and tackling the dummy. After this the linemen were put through a stiff drill with the charging machine, and also practiced starting.

In the afternoon falling on the ball and tackling the dummy was again tried under the direction of Coach Dewey, G. Grant '14 and K. Reynolds '14. The backs and linemen were then divided in to separate squads, the former being drilled in catching and running in punts, while the latter were given individual instruction in blocking and breaking through.

After this, different combinations of backs and ends were formed and sent through simple formations, including the forward pass.

No scrimmages have as yet been held but it is probable that within a few days the men will be in condition for harder work. Practice will be held this morning and afternoon, but after today in the afternoon only.
