YALE DEFEATED, 3 TO 1

Soccer Team Won at New Haven Yesterday.-Tied for Second in League.

The University association football team defeated Yale at New Haven yesterday afternoon by the score of 3 to 1. Harvard is now tied with Columbia for second place in the intercollegiate league, but as the latter has finished its schedule, the University team by defeating Cornell on April 29 can secure the championship.

The University team put up a strong defensive game and the offensive play was full of life. Harvard's first score was made by Byng as a result of a corner kick by Seamans. Shortly after this Seamans drove the ball into the net from a sharp scrimmage in front of the goal. The third score was made by Needham on a high shot which the Yale goal was unable to reach. Yale's only goal was made by Thompson towards the end of the first half.

The victory was largely a result of excellent work by Seamans, Fish and Hallowell.
