The Phi Beta Kappa Society will hold a reception and dinner to the 30 men who have just been chosen to membership from the Senior and Junior classes in the Union Monday evening at 6.30 o'clock. The first three-quarters of an hour will be devoted to a general reception in the Committee Room, at which President A. L. Lowell '77 will present keys to the new members and batons to the recently elected marshals, C. H. Haberkorn, Jr., '12 and J. G. Gilkey '12. C. H. Haberkorn will also read a short historical sketch of the Society, covering both the University and other chapters.
After this is over, those present will adjourn to the Trophy Room for dinner. Dean E. R. Thayer '88, of the Law School will act as toastmaster; and W. C. Lane '81, University Librarian and corresponding Secretary of the University chapter of the Society; C. E. Hughes, Jr., 3L., Brown '09; Professor G. H. Palmer '64; Dr. E. E. Day, Dartmouth '05, instructor in Economics; J. G. Gilkey '12; and President Lowell will speak in the order named.
It is expected that in addition to the undergraduate members of the Society, about 75 alumni will be present. Many of the most distinguished graduates and Phi Beta Kappa men from other universities including Yale, Brown, Dartmouth and the Universities of Michigan and California are coming.
