Sixty men reported at the first meeting of the winter class in general athletics for Freshmen. This number is almost twice that enrolled last year, while in 1909 only 7 men joined the class. Owing to the increased enrollment this year the class will be divided into squads of 10 men, each squad under the leadership of one of its own members. W. F. Garcelon L.'95 and P. Withington '09 will have charge of the class. Fencing instruction will be given under the direction of M. Leslabay, coach of the University fencing team, and Samuel Anderson, the former world's champion middleweight wrestler, will direct the wrestling lessons.
Mr. Garcelon says of the class, "No attempt is made to make athletes of the men, but rather to enable them to handle themselves in all kinds of sports."
