The Sophomores won the first game of the interclass baseball series yesterday afternoon on Soldiers Field, defeating the Juniors by the score of 3 to 2. The game was poorly played throughout, all the runs except one resulting from errors. For the Sophomores, Flint played the best game, making their only hits, while Hann's work at first and the pitching of Foster were the redeeming features for the Juniors.
The Juniors were the first to score. Both their runs were made in the third inning with two men out. Lewis received a base on balls, and was advanced to second by O'Connell's scratch hit. An error and a passed ball brought them both in.
In the sixth inning, Flint hit to right field, stole second, was advanced to third by a fielder's choice, and stole home. The Sophomores scored again in the following inning on a misjudged fly. The winning run was made in the ninth by Desha who made a base hit, stole second and third, scoring on a passed ball.
