WORK OF UNIVERSITY CREW

During the Past Week.--Improvement Shown in Spite of Changes.

The University crew for the past week has been made up as follows: stroke, R. W. Cutler '11; 7, J. E. Waid '10; 6,. G. F. Newton '12; 5, E. C. Bacon '10; 4, F. H. Leslie '12; 3, R. F. Hooper '11; 2, S. A. Sargent '10; bow, R. Whitney '11. Withington, who had been rowing at 4 last week, was absent from Cambridge the first four days of this week. Metcalf, who had been at 3, was out of the boat all week for the same reason. Balch had been tried out last Saturday at bow and had done well but was also unable to row this week because of illness.

Up till Thursday, the boat did not go very well; the men made a weak finish and were uncertain on their slides immediately before their catch. Yesterday, however, the boat went better than it has so far this year. The crew rowed down to the New Bridge and back. On the return trip, the men rowed in fairly good form from the New Bridge to the Harvard Bridge but the rest of the way back the rowing fell off considerably.
