The University hockey team held a long practice in the University rink in the Stadium yesterday afternoon. The ice was in excellent condition and the practice was fast and very encouraging. For half an hour the two sets of forwards were sent against their respective defences under the supervision of Coach Winsor, who played special attention to the formations of the University team.
Following this, the first and second teams played a twenty-minute game, in which the former scored seven goals to its opponents' one. The two sets of defence were fairly evenly matched, but the University forwards, especially Hicks and Morgan, were much faster than their opponents and often got clear of the second seven forwards. The passing and team-play yesterday was far better than that in Saturday's game, chiefly owing to the presence of Morgan at right centre.
