The Freshman football team was given elementary practice yesterday on account of the poor showing made in the game with Andover on Saturday. Practice began with instruction to the backs in catching punts. The ends were coached in running down under kicks. The line was then given a long drill both in offensive and defensive work.
A short scrimmage was held in which no tackling was allowed, and all the playing was done at a walk. The first team lined up as follows: l.e., Devereux, Dana; l.t., Willetts; l.g., Saltonstall; c., Storer; r.g., Hitchcock; r.t.; Howard; r.e., Morgan, Curtis, Freedley; l.h.b., Ryan; r.h.b., Sortwell; f.b., Bettle.
Bulkeley, Chatfield, Gardiner, Grant, and Reynolds were out of the practice on account of minor injuries received in the Andover game. They should all be out for practice in a day or two. Head-coach H. C. Dewey '12 was again in charge.
