HOLIDAY DECREED TOMORROW

To Commemorate Day When Columbus Supposedly Discovered America.

By a special ruling of President Lowell, tomorrow, Columbus Day, will be a holiday in all departments of the University. All lectures, recitations, and other stated exercises engaging the attendance of teachers and students of the University will be suspended.

This year, for the first time, the legislatures of a number of states passed statutes making October 12, the anniversary of the landing of Columbus in America, a legal holiday. Since this was done in Massachusetts, the day has been declared a holiday in the University.
