To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
Why cannot the Glee Club come South on its itinerary? If it were to do so, much misunderstanding about Harvard and the kind of men who come from Cambridge would be cleared up.
The Yale Glee Club comes to Richmond every year. Its visit is a social event of much importance and there is no reason why the visit of the Harvard Glee Club should be less so. There is a well established Harvard Club here that would look after the men and entertain them.
Harvard is grossly misrepresented and misunderstood in the South, and some attempt ought to be made to overcome this. The presence of the Glee Club in many cities in the South would do much to abolish the false impressions that have gathered strength from the inactivity of Harvard men in the South, from the lack of attention paid to the South by Cambridge organizations in tours and from the activity of certain other large institutions not far from Boston.
The baseball team created much favorable comment in the college communities in the South visited last year; now let the Glee Club look after the social end of it. RION McKISSICK '09.
