Mr. John Kendrick Bangs, with the exception of Mark Twain, probably the best-known living American humorist, gave a most witty and interesting reading from his own works in the Union last evening. The audience completely filled the Living Room and over-flowed into the hall.
Throughout the reading Mr. Bangs kept the audience in a continual roar of laughter with humorous experiences and anecdotes, all-of which were heartily applauded. In the course of the evening: Mr. Bangs read from his "Coffee and Repartee," "A House Boat on the Styx," and a Christmas story from "A Glance Ahead, 3568, A.D."
