Out-door baseball practice for the entire University squad was held yesterday afternoon for the first time. Two teams were chosen and a game played, lasting more than nine innings. The same battery worked for both teams and after two innings gave way to a new one. Only eight men batted on a side, but otherwise the game proceeded in a fairly regular way. At the end of the ninth inning the score stood 8 to 6 in favor of team A. Errors were frequent, but were atoned for by a few good plays. Batting rallies by team B in the first inning and by team A in the seventh and eighth added interest to the game.
The two teams were composed as follows:
Team A--Briggs, 1b.; MacLaughlin, 2b.; Paine, Lanigan, 3b.; Marshall, H. B. Palmer, s.s.; Aronson, A. Harvey, r.f.; C. W. Harvey, c.f.; Hann, l.f.
Team B--Angell, Hamlen, 1b.; O'Connell, Crocker, 2b.; Haydock, 3b.; Rowley, Carr, s.s.; Lawrence, Clark, r.f.; Ferguson, c.f.; Dana, l.f. The pitchers were: Everts, Beebe, Davis, Ohler, Boyer, and C. H. Palmer. The catchers were: Brown, Jordan, Sweetser, Higgins, Finkelstein, Evarts. Currier batted for both sides.
There will not be any practice today.
