The semi-annual competition for places on the editorial board of the CRIMSON, which will commence on Monday evening, will be open to all Sophomores. The CRIMSON competition is valuable not only for the practical experience in gathering and writing news, but also because it brings the candidates into contact with the most prominent persons and movements in undergraduate and official affairs.
The competition will end a few days before the mid-year examination period. Ten men are usually elected to the board from each class, and six places are to be filled this year from 1912. There will be no competition for Freshmen during the first half-year, experience having shown that the work of men during their first few months in Cambridge is of less value to the paper and to the candidates themselves than later in their College course. The competition in the second half-year, and two competitions next year, will be open to members of the class of 1913.
