FOOTBALL WITH BROWN AT 3

McKay and P. D. Smith Expected to Play.--Cheering Section Organized.

The University football team will play Brown this afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Stadium. This will be the first of the final series of games for this year; the Brown game has been moved up one week on the Harvard schedule. The University team will probably have both P. D. Smith and McKay in the line-up but, in case the coaches decide to save them, Long and Hooper will play at right half-back and left tackle respectively.

Brown has a very strong team this fall and has played six games. New Hampshire State College, Rhode Island College, and Colgate were defeated early in the season. On October 6 Brown defeated Bates 17 to 0, the next week Amherst was defeated 10 to 0, but last Saturday Pennsylvania won from Brown 13 to 5. Last year Harvard barely defeated Brown 6 to 2 in a very close and hard-fought game. The Brown team is heavy, very fast and has a number of exceptionally good trick plays. The whole team with the exception of McKay and Altdoerffer, who may not play, is in good condition.

During the past week the University team has been drilled almost entirely in details. There have been but two scrimmages, many substitutes playing in these on account of minor injuries to many of the regulars. However, the team has developed considerably in the minor points and has acquired a great deal more speed.

The teams will line up as follows: HARVARD.  BROWN. Houston, l.e.  r.e., Regnier McKay, l.t.  r.t., Raquet L. Withington, l.g.  r.g., Corp P. Withington, c.  c., Sisson Fisher, r.g.  l.g., Ayler Fish, r.t.  l.t., Kratz G. G. Browne, r.e.  l.e., Ashbaugh O'Flaherty, q.b.  q.b., Sprackling Frothingham, l.h.b.  r.h.b., McKay P. D. Smith, r.h.b.  l.h.b., Young Minot, f.b.  f.b., High

Referee--J. A. Evans. Umpire--F. J. Crolius. Field Judge--F. Burleigh. Head-linesman--G. V. Brown. Time--25-minute halves.

Cheering Section at the Game.

This afternoon a section of the Stadium will be roped off for cheering. Only holders of H. A. A. tickets and undergraduates holding season tickets will be admitted to this section. G. P. Gardner, Jr., '10 and C. L. Lanigan '10 have been appointed cheer leaders.

Light Secret Practice Yesterday.

The secret practice was very light yesterday afternoon. The first and second teams lined up against each other and walked through plays but no scrimmage was held. In the signal practice which followed this "dummy" line-up, the first team was very fast, getting off with the ball on almost every play. Hooper was in McKay's place at left tackle. The line-up was: l.e., Houston, Rogers; l.t., Hooper; l.g., W. K. Blodgett, L. Withington; c., P. Withington; r.g., Fisher; r.t., Fish; r.e., L. D. Smith; q.b., O'Flaherty; l.h.b., Frothingham; r.h.b., Long; f.b., Minot.
