BASKETBALL TEAM DEFEATED

Technology Won 19 to 12 Through Harvard's Deficiency in Team-Work.

The University basketball team was defeated by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the Gymnasium last evening by the score of 19 to 12 in a hard-fought game. The University team was deficient in team-work and was often slow in breaking up that of Technology. The individual playing was good, and the latter part of the game was very fast; the shooting, however, was poor.

At the beginning of the first half the playing of both teams was slow and ineffectual. Wellman made the first goal, which was quickly followed by one by Hargraves. Technology then began to play faster and scored three additional goals. The score at the end of the half was 12 to 3 in favor of Technology.

The second half started in with much faster playing by both sides. The University team succeeded in breaking up their opponents' team-work and in scoring two goals from the floor. As in the first half Allen and Sheehan did the most effective work for Harvard, and Wentworth and Parker made the best showing for Technology. Allen's five goals from the field in this half made the final score 12 to 19 in favor of Technology.

The following men will report at the training table at Memorial Hall this morning at 8.15 o'clock: Allen, Brown, Currie, Scribner, Sheehan, Webber, and Wellman. Further additions will be made later.

The summary: HARVARD.  M. I. T. Sheehan, Scribner, l.f.  r.f., Hargraves, Russell Ellis, Currie, r.f.  l.f., Lord Newton, Wellman, Leonard, c.  c., Parker Allen, l.g.  r.g., Bemis Wellman, Webber, r.g.  l.g., Wentworth
