The University basketball team was defeated by Holy Cross at Worcester last night by the score of 17 to 14. The game was poorly played by both sides throughout; and because of the listless work of Holy Cross the University team was able to tie the score three times.
Holy Cross played a better all-round game while the Harvard forwards relied too much on long shots which were frequently unsuccessful. Currie played well for the University team and Dowd and Stevens for Holy Cross.
The summary: Score--Holy Cross, 17; Harvard, 14. Goals from floor--Dowd 4, Currio 3, Stevens 3, Browne, Brown, Barry. Goals from fouls--Currie 4, Dowd. Fouls called--on Harvard, 5; on Holy Cross, 7. Referee P. W. Hehir. Time--20 minute halves.
