FRESHMEN PLAY YALE 1912

At New Haven at 3.--Close Game Expected.--Both Teams Undefeated.

The Freshman football team will play its annual game with the Yale freshmen on Yale Field this afternoon at 3 o'clock. The team left yesterday for Farmington, Conn., where they spent the night.

This year's Freshman team is unusually strong and has won every game played so far. They defeated Groton for the first time in five years and won from Exeter and the Brown freshmen, both of whom defeated the 1911 team last year. The backfield is especially strong, Pierce and Frothingham being consistent ground gainers. The Yale freshmen outweigh Harvard, and have shown a good deal of reserve power when hard pressed. They have won all their games, defeating Andover, with whom the Harvard Freshmen played a tie game, by the score of 22 to 0. This makes Yale's chances appear somewhat the better. The 1912 team, however, has the advantage of being well-balanced, while their opponents will have to rely on four or five exceptionally strong men to do most of the work. The game should be a close one.

The teams will line up as follows: HARVARD 1912.  YALE 1912. Paine, l.e.  r.e., Savage Dewey, l.t.  r.t., Parker Fisher, l.g.  r.g., Bacon Amory, c.  c., Loree Strong, r.g.  l.g., Glover Gaddis, r.t.  l.t., Francis Smith, r.e.  l.e., Vaughn Wigglesworth, q.b.  q.b., Merritt Frothingham, l.h.b.  r.h.b., Evans Pierce, r.h.b.  l.h.b., Potter Winston, f.b.  f.b., Kistler
