Communication

Candidates for 1909 Eleven Wanted.

[We invite all men in the University to submit communications on subjects of timely interest.]

To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

In spite of the fact that the class of 1909 has never won the class football championship, and although this is the last chance to do so, there does not seem to be enough interest among the men in the class to come out in sufficient numbers to make up even two teams. Furthermore, many of those who have come out do not report regularly for practice, which makes it almost impossible to accomplish any results in developing a team.

Now there is no doubt that this is poor "class spirit," and besides it is not a good example for a Senior class to set the other classes. In my opinion, therefore, it is the duty of men who have any ability whatever to try for the team, because it is good for the class and good for the game.

The first class game is now less than two weeks off and two weeks is a very short time in which to get any sort of team play, which is necessary to the success of the team. Hence men who do intend to come out should do so at once. It has always been the case that more men try for the Senior team, and more men come out early for the Senior team than for any other, and there is no reason at all why this year's class should be an exception. F. H. BURR '09.
