The secret practice for the University football squad continued yesterday afternoon. After the preliminary session which consisted of defensive work against the second team, the first team lined up against the Freshman eleven for a 25-minute scrimmage. The latter was given the ball on the University team's 25-yard line. When the University team had rushed the ball down to the 1-yard line and were about to score, the whole Freshman squad was put in against it, and the ball was lost on downs. The backs and ends played good games, but the line was poor and let the Freshman backs through for good gains.
The Freshman team's first play was a double pass, which Kennard broke up. Winston then punted to the University team, and on its first play White went through right guard for fifteen yards on a fake kick. Kennard then punted to Wigglesworth on the Freshmen's 35-yard line. Winston returned the ball, and Smith recovered it on a fumble. Winston was put through left guard for seven yards. McKay got the ball on Kenney's fumble, but Kennard lost it on the next play. Winston's punt went to Corbett on the 50-yard line, and Kennard punted immediately to Wigglesworth. Campbell, on two line plays, netted fifteen yards through right tackle. Then the Freshmen punted to Corbett and the University team rushed the ball to the Freshmen's goal line, where the entire Freshman squad managed to hold it.
