SECOND BROWN GAME TODAY

In Stadium at 4.-Pritchett to Play Third.-Brennan or Hartford in Box

This afternoon at 4 o'clock the University baseball team will play the final game of the series with Brown the Soldiers Field. Brown will probably use Tift in the box this afternoon, while Brennan or Hartford will pitch for Harvard. In the first game of the series at Providence last Wednesday Nourse, the second string pitcher, opposed Brennan, and the University team only got two hits, while Brown got five, winning the game, 1-0.

Unless there is a decided improvement in batting, the chances for victory in any of the remaining games seem doubtful. Ten hits in the last three games, eight of which came in one game, shows the weakness of the team in this department, and no amount of excellent pitching and fielding can win games from scrappy, hard-hitting teams such as Holy Cross and Yale. Today, the team will face a speedy left-hander, an exceptionally good college pitcher, who defeated Yale on Memorial Day, and gave them only five hits.

No one has yet been able to lower Brown's colors, though the best college teams in the East, with the exception of Princeton, have all played the Providence nine. The first game with Yale was a tie, and was called in the thirteenth inning on account of darkness with the score 2 to 2. In the second game Brown, won out in the ninth inning by an exciting rally 3 to 2.

Leonard's injury has not improved sufficiently to allow him to play today and Pritchett will be at third base. Captain Dexter did not report for practice yesterday as he was troubled with a slight attack of laryngitis, but he will be in the game today. If Hartford is in condition today he will pitch; otherwise Brennan will be used.

The batting order: HARVARD  BROWN McCall, 2b  2b., Dickinson Briggs, 1b.  s.s., Jones Currier, c.  c., Paine Dexter, l.f.  l.f., Nourse or Tift Simons, s.s  r.f., Raymond Harvey, c.f.  3b., Hamilton Dana, r.f.  1b., Elrod Pritchett, 3b.  c.f., Dennie Brennan or Hartford,  p.p., Tift or Nourse
