The University crew which will row against Cornell on Lake Cayuga next Thursday, will leave for Ithaca on Monday afternoon at 6 o'clock from the Trinity place station, Boston. The men will breakfast at Geneva, N. Y., and will reach Ithaca at 9.45 o'clock Tuesday morning, where they will stay at the Ithaca Hotel. Coach Wray, Manager G. Whitney '07, Dr. T. N. Manahan M.'98, and two substitutes will accompany the crew. The men will return with the Musical Clubs immediately after the race and will reach Boston early Friday morning.
Development of Crew Retarded.
The outcome of the race is as yet very uncertain, as the University crew has been considerably set back during the entire season by poor weather and sickness. At present Faulkner and Fish are the only men occupying the same positions which they held in the Columbia race. Glass has been out for a week with the mumps and will not recover in time for the Cornell race. Fish and Lovering have both been out of the boat for several days and the crew has been on the whole in a very unsettled condition. Tappan, who stroked the crew against Columbia, is now back in his old position at bow, where he rowed last year, and Farley has taken his place at stroke. Richardson has been moved down in the boat to fill the seat left vacant by Amberg, while Captain Bacon has replaced Glass at 6. Severance and Lunt are now rowing at 5 and 4 respectively.
Yesterday the University crew rowed in the following order:
Stroke, Farley; 7, Richardson; 6, Bacon; 5, Severance; 4, Lunt; 3, Faulkner; 2, Fish; bow, Tappan; cox., Blagden.
