The Freshman class held an enthusiastic mass meeting in the Union last night in preparation for the track meet and baseball game with Yale tomorrow.
R. C. Brown '10, president of the class, presided and introduced the speakers, the first of whom was H. Foster, Jr., '07, who has coached the nine. Foster outlined the progress of the baseball team since it was first called out. He said that although the team was not composed of star players, it was steady and reliable and had a good battery with two excellent pitchers. It has won all of its ten games, and there is no reason why it should not win tomorrow.
C. L. Lanigan '10, captain of the team, then spoke of the good feeling existing among the players. They were always ready to take suggestions, he said, and had played together remarkably well throughout the season.
Coach Lathrop, the third speaker, mentioned the advantage that the Freshman track team had by being on its own grounds, and said that he thought they had more than an even chance to win. Two good men were entered in each event, and everyone was in fit condition to do his best. H. Watson '10, captain of the track team, in summarizing the work of the Freshman track team, emphasized the value of a large squad in developing good track athletes.
