The University baseball team will play its first game of the season this afternoon with the University of Vermont on the Freshman diamond at 3 o'clock. Vermont is an unknown quantity this spring, as there are only three men of last year's team in the lineup. Harvard's team, which will start the game today, on the other hand, is composed of six veterans of last season, and should win without difficulty.
With the exception of first base, last year's infield remains intact with Leonard, Currier, McCall and Simons. In the outfield, Captain Dexter and Pounds will be in their old positions of left and right field, respectively. Briggs, who has been selected to cover first today, captained last year's Freshman team. Dana in centre field also played on last year's Freshman team. He is a clean fielder and covers a fair amount of ground. Slater, will probably start the game in the box.
