Thomas Bailey Aldrich h.'96.

Thomas Bailey Aldrich h.'96 died yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock at his home on Mt. Vernon street, Boston, as a result of an operation performed at the Homeopathic Hospital about two weeks ago. Mr. Aldrich was born in Portsmouth. New Hampshire, November 11, 1836, where he spent the early part of his life and where he prepared for Harvard. He was employed in the editorial departments of several papers in New York up to 1874. He has written many well-known books, among them "The Story of a Bad Boy," "Prudence Palfrey," "An Old Town by the Sea," and "Unguarded Gates." Of late years Mr. Aldrich has travelled abroad a great deal, living in his summer home in Ponkapoag, near Blue Hill, a great part of the time when in this country. Mr. Aldrich was 70 years old.
