The University basketball team will play its fourth game in the intercollegiate series tonight with Columbia in the Columbia Gymnasium, New York. The game promises to be one of the most closely contested of the series as the records of the two teams in the intercollegiate league are much the same. On February 6 Columbia lost to Yale, 11 to 9, in an extremely close game in which an extra period was needed to play off a tie score, while Harvard lost a similar game to Yale on February 1 by a score of 14 to 13. Columbia has defeated Cornell twice, by scores of 27 to 13 and 23 to 16, respectively, and Harvard has beaten Cornell, 30 to 11. Both Harvard and Columbia have defeated Princeton; the former, 17 to 12, the latter, 20 to 14 and 18 to 15.
The University team has not shown much development during the past week. In shooting and aggressive playing the forwards are considerably better than early in the season, but the passing of all the players is still very inaccurate. At times the men show ability to play together as a team, but they fail to follow up their advantages by consistent work.
The teams will probably line up as follows:
The team will stay at the Murray Hill Hotel in New York tonight, and tomorrow morning will go to Princeton.
